Our Client, a successful convenience retailer, is in a rapid growth phase and is seeking a Financial Controller to lead the Finance team of a recently acquired subsidiary.  This broad role requires both strong technical capabilities, coupled with a strategic leadership ability, and we are seeking a high caliber and talented senior finance professional who has a proven track record operating at this level. The successful candidate will be a highly driven, adaptable, and confident people person who can thrive in a rapidly changing organization. This permanent role will report to the VP of Finance and will be based in the Northeast.






Based on Experience



Lead the recruitment, training and development of a high performing finance team for the newly acquired subsidiary

Definition and implementation of finance processes for the region in compliance with group policy

Oversight of deliverables of the finance team with full responsibility for payables/receivables, general ledger, cost accounting inventory accounting and revenue recognition

Support direct reports to expand their skillsets and reach full potential

Monthly reporting to operations team, providing critical insight for management decision making

Establish strong relationships with the operations team, driving profitability through financial reporting and analysis

Monthly reporting to group finance team

Ad hoc support to senior management as required

Full ownership of the annual audit process

Coordinate the preparation of regulatory and other external reporting

Covenant compliance and lender reporting

Interpretation and application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

Continuous Improvement

Streamlining accounting functions and operations through continuous improvement projects

Participation in group reporting projects as required

Establish and maintain a strong control environment.



Qualified Accountant with a recognized accounting body (preferably big 4 trained)

Minimum 10 years post qualification experience

Proven experience as a Financial Controller in a rapid growth company

Experience delivering finance transformation programs

Experience operating in an IFRS reporting environment

Experience working with an outsource provider preferred

Experience in a high-volume retail environment preferred

High proficiency in all Microsoft Office software also essential (Excel, PPT).
