Energy Recruiters has partnered with a regional petroleum distributor and convenience retailer to support their search for a Director of Facility Maintenance and Construction. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of commercial construction, facilities maintenance, and related project coordination. This role supervises teams, manages vendor relationships, prepares bid specifications, and ensures all construction and maintenance activities meet operational, safety, and compliance standards.

Responsibilities:
Plan, schedule, assign, supervise, and inspect work involving concrete, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fueling equipment, signage, and general repairs.
Supervise, train, and evaluate employees performing skilled maintenance, construction, and repair work. Develop work schedules based on organizational needs and shift project priorities.
Review plans and prepare detailed specifications for bidding construction and maintenance projects. Write material requisitions, identify approved suppliers, and obtain vendor pricing.
Estimate materials, equipment, and labor needed for assigned projects and initiate timely procurement. Conduct monthly safety meetings and ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Requirements:
College degree or Trade School certification preferred.
Consideration will be given to candidates with three (3) years of experience in building trade or commercial construction, including time spent in a lead or supervisory role.
Standard practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in construction and maintenance trades, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
Proficient computer skills include file management and use of Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Safety codes, regulations, and best practices related to construction, equipment use, and facilities operations.
Ability to interpret and work from sketches, blueprints, plans, and technical specifications.
Accurately estimate quantities of materials and supplies required for jobs.
Develop project scopes and specifications for competitive bidding.
Plan, schedule, train, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the work performance of assigned staff. Operate a computer to maintain digital work records and prepare reports.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, vendors, and public agencies.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Develop, manage, and monitor departmental operating budgets.
