Energy Recruiters has been engaged to support our client in their search for a Director of Terminal Operations.  In this role, you will be responsible managing fuel and lubricant distribution facilities. The Director of Operations will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our other assets including storage tanks, pipelines, loading racks, warehouses, and associated infrastructure.

Ensures that the terminal/distribution division complies with health, safety, environmental, and training regulatory matters affecting all operations.

Creates and implements programs, processes, and procedures to meet terminal, customer and regulatory requirements.

Creates a culture of continuous improvement across all areas of the organization in order to maximize optimize efficiency and productivity.

Consults with business unit leadership to identify opportunities for improving efficiency and reducing waste at all terminal levels.

Develops KPI’s and metrics to measure operational excellence/efficiency inclusive of employee, customer, and safety ratings within all terminal operations.

Create and manage the operating budget for all terminal operations that includes forecasting, cost reduction, and expense approval.

Coordinates, creates, and delivers updated relevant training for terminal certifications to meet all regulatory requirements.

Manage and oversee all SPCC and federal/state/local regulatory agency terminal programs to be sure we are complaint with all regulations and supplier relationships.

Manages and assists with all terminal and compliance audits for safety related issues within the terminal operation.

Audits all operational systems/processes/procedures for ongoing effectiveness.

Reports consistent and concise terminal score cards to track terminal efficiency and safety ratings.

Oversee all field and safety audits of drivers, loading racks, equipment and customer sites to ensure operational excellence.

Works with internal and external sales/customers to improve field/site safety

Leads all terminal incident investigations as needed to uncover root causes, corrective actions, and follow up reporting of effectiveness.

Responds to all Emergency Management incidents/accidents.

Supports all Emergency Service deployments to ensure we are safe, efficient, reliable, and effective.

Constantly improves terminal operational manuals / procedures / training as market and regulatory climate changes.

Evaluate and recommend capital investments in terminal infrastructure, equipment, and technology to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety.

Collaborate with other departments, such as supply chain, logistics, and compliance, to optimize terminal operations and ensure alignment with business objectives.

Oversee all aspects of terminal operations, including receiving, storage, blending, distribution, transloading, and inventory management.

Oversee all warehouse operations at the terminal level to include inventory product cycle counts, tank inventory, field equipment, and bulk-package DEF/Lubricants.

Supports M&A diligence and integration activities as needed

Project management for key operations initiatives including but not limited to system implementations and annual terminal certification programs.

Other tasks, projects, or assignments as requested by leadership.



A minimum of 7 years’ experience in the transportation operations industry or other relevant field

Previous experience leading large operations teams across multiple locations/geographies

In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to terminal operations, safety, and environmental compliance.

Expertise in terminal operations, including storage tank management, product handling, and pipeline operations.

Proven experience in a senior management role within the oil and gas industry, with specific experience in terminal operations.

Experience with terminal management software systems and other relevant technology platforms.

Strong career demonstrating and applying skill of communication, analysis, problem-solving, leadership and collaboration

Experience in program creation, management, implementation, and effectiveness reporting

Willingness to travel 50% or as required by the business.
