Energy Recruiters has been engaged to support their search for a Chief Executive Officer.  In this role, you will lead the organization in fulfilling their mission of increasing profitability for Members.   As the face of this national brand, you and your Team will support the entrepreneurial spirit of Members while creating programs and services that support all Members in their goal to win in a competitive market.

The successful candidate will bring executive leadership, strategy, extensive market experience, industry relationships, and passion for winning to the organization.

As the Chief Executive Officer, you will be responsible for the following:


Primary Objectives:

Accountable for the Vision, Culture, and Success of the organization

Engage with your Members and Team to foster innovative programs that will enable competitive advantage

Financial leadership and stewardship for this non-profit organization migrating to for-profit model

Serve the Team in critical areas of Organizational Development, Training, and Succession Planning


Vision, Culture, and Success of the organization

Foster the continued evolution of a best-in-class organization delivering programs and services that increase profitability for Members

Embody the servant leadership values of the brand, its Members, and Team

Serve as an Ambassador to Members, strategic partners/vendors, and various stakeholders including government entities

Plan, develop, implement, and direct the performance of operational and fiscal functions

Communicate effectively and establish credibility throughout the organization as a solutions provider to business challenges

Provide strategic input and leadership on business issues, specifically in the areas of potential mergers, acquisitions, and/or partnerships

Act as a strategic advisor and consultant offering expert advice on contracts, negotiations, and/or business deals that the corporation evaluates

Continuous improvement of the company’s financial, operational, sales, and marketing structures to increase efficiency

Transparent reporting on progress to goals, wins, and losses (weekly/monthly/quarterly)


Engage with your Members and Team to foster innovative programs that will enable competitive advantage

Engage with Members and Team to establish relationships, trust, and credibility as a critical business partner

Lead execution of critical opportunities; manage & support your Team in achieving goals of the strategic plan

Serve as strategic partner by engaging the Member community in understanding their business challenges and initiating plans to deliver solutions

Make recommendations on the impact of near and long-term growth initiatives, planning, and introduction of new strategies and regulatory actions

Improve the planning and budgeting process on a continuous basis by educating departments and key members of the leadership team

Continuously monitor opportunities and competitive pressures within the transportation fuels industry


Financial leadership and stewardship

Enable credibility and authority for the finance leadership team by providing accurate analysis of budgets, reports, financial trends, and operational procedures

Provide expert financial guidance and advice to others within executive leadership

Optimize the handling of banking relationships to foster and grow beneficial partnerships

Work with the finance team to develop a cash flow projection and reporting mechanism that includes setting thresholds to achieve operating needs


Organizational Development, Training, and Succession Planning

Mentor and interact with Team members at all levels to foster growth and encourage professional development

Create, improve, implement, and enforce policies/procedures that will improve operational and financial effectiveness

Develop process for identifying characteristics in existing/potential employees that contribute to successful goal achievement and professional growth

Ensure Team is proactively conducting market analysis, recognizing competitive pressures/advantages, and bringing them to Leadership Team's attention.


Requirements and Skills

Demonstrated record of accomplishments as an Executive, leader, performance manager, change manager, mentor, people developer, and ambassador within the transportation fuels industry.

At least 10 years of Executive leadership and proven ability to develop a high performing Team

Minimum of 5 years experience serving independent marketers or retailers

Excellent industry reputation, relationships, and credibility

Leadership competencies

Expert communication and negotiation skills

Expert financial management skills

Expert organizational skills

Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred

Willing to travel up to 50% and build authentic relationships with Members, Suppliers, and Strategic Partners
