Our Client, an international Refining & Markerting company, has engaged Energy Recruiters to support their search for a Crude Oil Trader

 

Location

Houston, TX

 

Compensation

Based on Experience, STI (Trading Bonus), LTI, Retirement, Relocation, and more

 

Accountabilities

Physical purchase, sale, and trading of crude oil and feedstocks to supply complex refineries and maximize enterprise value.  Lead negotiations on spot and term contracts. 

Implement hedging strategies and manages price risk using financial instruments.

Monitors net exposure on all positions and ensures positions are aligned with agreed trading strategies and risk policies.

Proactive initiative-taking role in business development.   Seek out and evaluate market tenders to capture new business.

consistently meet targeted crude oil or feedstock delivery schedules, product movement requirements, profitability, and optimization targets

Coordinates commercial activities with the refinery optimizers/coordinators, logistics/schedulers, marine operations, refineries operations, and risk management teams.

 

Requirements

Demonstrated commercial experience of physical trading of crude oils and refinery feedstocks as well as paper trading.

Expectation is that you will bring experience purchasing in excess of 200 MBD of light sour and medium crudes (foreign/domestic).

Demonstrated leadership, positive influence, and teamwork behaviors.

A self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task in an active/dynamic business environment.

Demonstrated utilization of fundamental and technical market data to propose profitable strategies and manage exposure.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in inventory management, hedging, and position taking.

Understand the value of hydrocarbon qualities, pipeline and vessel logistics, infrastructure, and blending opportunities in a wide array of business development activities to find new sources of value in the market.

Periodic travel may be required.  24 hour availability for unexpected crisis management.

Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
