Energy Recruiters has been engaged to support a diversified petroleum marketer in their search for a Director of Transportation

Responsibilities

Develop and Implement Corporate Logistics & Fleet Strategy.

Establish and implement strategic fleet management initiatives in the areas of vehicle standards, fleet optimization, fleet replacement strategy, vehicle procurement and financing, vehicle maintenance, vehicle dispatch, tracking and diagnostics, driver productivity management, truck automation, route planning & optimization and health & safety management with the goal of improving efficiency, productivity and reducing overall transportation costs while providing 100% compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations and best practices.

Asset Management. Establish processes to track and report on critical fleet management data including numbers, types and locations of equipment, performance and repair histories, maintenance records, technical specifications, operating information, and unit productivity.

Track capital costs, including purchase/lease amounts, develop asset utilization and replacement modeling based on mileage, hours, age, condition, fuel consumption and maintenance costs.

Create and manage budgets for unit turnover and acquisition, monitor delivery schedules, and generate purchase orders for new unit acquisitions.

Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution, and retention of all necessary reports and records regarding fleet operations. Assess and advise optimal use of Company owned assets vs. third party logistics provider.

People Management. Consistent with good people management practices and all federal, state and local regulations, build a strong and talented logistics management team and drive an agenda to build, train, motivate and manage a high performing fleet & logistics organization.

Model and drive accountability within the regional logistics teams for talent acquisition, development and deployment.

Create and drive a leadership culture where team members link planning and strategy tools with safety and accountability.

Develop and implement key metrics to drive performance in safety, environmental compliance, cost management & productivity.

Utilize performance and talent management tools as core processes for driving performance through ongoing goal setting, results measurement, and individual and team development.

 

Requirements

This position requires leadership and coordination for establishing Transportation and Fleet management related policies, procedures and programs.

Provide leadership and support for regional trucking operations, driving productivity and effective asset management/utilization across the organization. Working with operations and transportation management, drive productivity and capture synergies across the entire fleet, optimizing fleet operations with regards to maintenance, management of DOT regulations, P&L monitoring, reporting and budgeting.

Managing, directing, mentoring, training and motivating a team that has day-to-day responsibilities for regional fleet operations.

Work with executive management to develop strategies to cost-effectively manage the fleet. 

Candidate`s background should include: 10+ years of recent experience in transportation.

Proven track record with developing strategy for the organization.

Experience with transportation a fleet replacement strategy and distribution network design.

Demonstrated knowledge of the transportation and distribution industry.

Demonstrated knowledge of Hours of  Service management and department of Transportation Regulations.

Experience in change management and process improvement.

Strong Analytical Skills. Experience in business process re-engineering

Experience developing and executing programs and initiatives. Experience managing cross-business and cross functional teams.
