Energy Recruiters has been engaged to support our Client, a diversified energy company, in their search for a Safety Manager

 

Compensation

$100K-$120K Comprehensive Benefits, Profit Sharing

Responsibilities

The Safety manager is a “boots-on-the-ground” leadership position responsible for ensuring that employees are provided with a safe workplace, and for developing and implementing strategies to drive and sustain safety culture. 

This leader will monitor and evaluate regulatory compliance primarily in the areas of Safety, Transportation, Security, with some overlap with Environmental regulations, and will communicate any changes that may impact the organization. This manager may serve as the liaison with state and federal regulators. 

This position is to be held with enthusiasm and conviction, while fostering a supportive relationship with all the operating departments.

Leadership and Management    

Provides strategic direction and data analysis to measure management commitment and employee ownership of safety culture.  

Establishes safety goals and measures key performance indicators. 

Liaises and directly engages with all levels of the organization. 

Communicates clearly and persuasively in either positive or challenging situations. 

Mentors and encourages professional development of Safety Team. 

Manages consulting and contractor expenses and oversees Program expenses. 

Manages multiple projects simultaneously.     

Maintains and manages OSHA statistics vs. industry benchmarks. 

Develops and manages safety policies and compliance programs. 

Develops and manages incentive programs.  

Develops and manages periodic safety meetings. 

Develops and manages the Safety Committee. 

Manages and responds to emergency HazMat releases  

Risk Management  

Investigates incidents and analyses trends to develop hazard prevention and control strategies.  

Manages worker’s comp and liability claims. 

Liaises with insurance carrier and TPA. 

Conducts hazard assessments, and risk evaluation and mitigation. 

Conducts periodic audits of facilities and procedures. 

Develops and executes EHS training programs for employees and contractors. 

Develops and conducts periodic training presentations for all levels in the organization.  

 

Requirements

BS/BA Degree from an accredited 4-year institution in EHS, industrial hygiene or engineering, or equivalent work experience. 

Minimum 3 years of EHS management experience. 

Experience working in fuel, chemical, transportation industry, and industrial hygiene experience preferred. 

Federal and state regulatory experience in the areas of OSHA (PSM), DOT (PHMSA, FMCSA, FAA, FRA), USCG, DHS (CFATS) Worker’s Comp, EPA (TSCA, RMP). 

HAZWOPER 40 Hr certification preferred. 

Must have excellent written communication and oral presentation skills. 

Must be technology driven and proficient in the use of software, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite including the use of Access database applications. 

Must meet the criteria for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
