The Supply and Distribution Manager develops, implements, and maintains fuel purchasing strategies to support the transportation fuels supply chain by ensuring the Company consistently purchases product for its customers at the lowest possible price.  In addition, this position oversees the day-to-day operations of the Logistics Department by making certain that personnel have tools and knowledge to keep customers adequately supplied and that orders are delivered timely and information entered into the supply chain/dispatch system as required. 

Duties include identification and evaluation of potential trading partners and vendors, as well at the evaluation of market and climate conditions in order to maintain adequate inventory levels while controlling costs.

Continuous communication and relationship building with suppliers. 

Responsible for the purchase of liquid fuels and related transportation. 

Manage the overall supply chain operations of the organization, including purchasing, inventory, and selection of vendors 

Develop policies related to the procurement of fuels and carrier services to ensure best purchasing strategies 

Continually analyze data to measure the financial impact of strategies and adherence to the policies by the transportation and logistics department 

Conduct market analysis to identify fluctuations in cost and availability of product sources. 

Develop, implement, and communicate the commodity purchasing strategy to the logistics department 

Identify and secure competitive product, daily, throughout all markets, by comparing pricing structures and throughput opportunities 

Build supplier relationships by attending industry functions and networking opportunities and by meeting with vendors 

Represent client at events and tradeshows when required/requested 

Interact with customers, as required, to ensure that all requirements are being met 

Plan and manage fuel inventory processes to ensure customers have adequate stock of fuel at best possible prices 

Build and maintain appropriate 3rd party carrier (trucking) relationships 

Build and maintain appropriate 3rd party vendor/jobber relationships 

Develop an environment that drives performance and cost saving initiatives 

Set department goals and manage through KPI 

Direct and manage logistics & carrier utilization in a way that ensures the best efficiency possible 

Manage short, mid and long-term department goals 

Assist with management, staffing, training and continual education of Logistics department employees 

Interact with internal support teams to ensure adequate plans are made to meet business objectives 

Work closely with other departments and ensure that processes are maintained for efficient and timely workflow 



Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management and/or Logistics preferred 

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted 

Minimum of 5 years procurement experience  Fuel or Trucking industry preferred 

Minimum of 5 years’ management experience 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills 


Strong background in procurement 

Excellent attention to detail 

A self-starter who takes initiative and can work independently 

Understanding of supply chain/dispatch software or similar system 

Capacity to collaborate with various groups inside the Company 

Ability to manage emails and phone calls in a timely manner 

Capability to manage numerous competing demands in a high-pressure environment 

Proficient in Microsoft Office and knowledge of Salesforce
