Energy Recruiters has partnered with a leading distributor of wholesale fuels to support their search for a Chief Financial Officer. The Chief Financial Officer has the key responsibility for the leadership and management of the company’s finance operations, is a trusted member of the executive management team, and reports directly to the President. The CFO is responsible for providing executive level direction and management oversight for financial planning, budgeting, accounting, financial controls and reporting, purchasing and contracts.

Responsibilities

Serves as the financial advisor to the President and executive team

Upholds compliance with various government and other internal and external stakeholders

Develops the annual operating and capital budgets and leads the budgeting process

Oversees the treasury functions, including cash management; asset accounting and divisional policies and procedures

Reviews budget vs. actual expenditures with division heads and senior management

Drives continual improvement of the budgeting process through the education of department managers on budgetary issues impacting their budget and ongoing departmental performance to budget

Understands and mitigates key elements of the corporate risk profile

Constructs and monitors control systems and report risk issues to the President and the leadership team

Participates in the development of the company’s strategic planning as a tactical partner in evaluating and advising on the impact of long-range planning and regulatory action on the areas of responsibility

Directs internal controls and auditing function for the retail division as well as other departments

Leads large scale finance and accounting projects including new system implementation such as PDI

Establishes effective solutions to administrative business challenges; This would include the assessment of the various activities and functions including evaluating internal and external support and most effective methods of providing the proper level of services at the appropriate cost

Responsible for accurate and timely reporting of financial information to the President and outside agencies and groups

Provides financial leadership and guidance to the controller and finance department

Trains managers on financial matters and provides routine feedback regarding department performance

Assists the President and other executives with all M&A activities from due diligence to post-closure

Partners with Head of HR in the development and continuous review/improvement of optimum employee compensation and benefit strategies.

 

Requirements

Experience as a proven senior executive in the retail industry and/or business organization of relevant size and complexity; evidence of developing progressive business policies and practices that advance the strategic goals of the organization.

Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field

CPA certification preferred

Experience working with large financially complex projects

Experience with Great Plains and PDI systems preferred
