Our Client, a Best-in-Class Convenience Retailer, has retained Energy Recruiters to support their investment in a Supply & Trading Leader who will lead their fuels supply chain expansion.


Upper Midwest


Based on Experience


Lead forward strategy to lower cost of goods through diversification of supply methodology including, but not limited to, bulk inventory shipped to market (e.g., pipeline, rail, barge, etc.), blending, spot purchase, day deals, long and short term supply contracts, exchange agreements, and/or asset investments.

Negotiate and purchase refined products below industry indices to achieve budget.

Continuous improvement to optimize laid-in costs of refined products.

Develop supply acquisition capabilities through building industry networks and supplier relationships.

Manage inventories to ensure adequate supply with minimal overstock.

Preserve value of bulk refined products purchases and stored inventory.

Analyze/Forecast supply, demand, and market dynamics to ensure capture of opportunities and mitigate risk

Partner with stakeholders in various disciplines (e.g. operations, technology, accounting, etc.) to improve processes and ensure successful execution of the supply strategy through development and measurement of key performance indicators.

Provide transparency on success, failure, performance, and projections to Executive Team through metrics analysis and reporting.

Educate and mentor Team members; build institutional knowledge that will ensure sustainability


Five (5) to fifteen (15) years of refined products supply, trading, and logistics experience; PADD 2 experience preferred.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Diverse strategic and tactical supply experience to include bulk inventory shipped to market (e.g., pipeline, barge, rail, etc.), blending, day deals, long and short term supply contracts, and exchange agreements

Leadership competencies

Expert risk manager

Expert financial management skills including modeling & analysis

Expert organizational skills

Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred
