Energy Recruiters has partnered with a leading convenience store chain to support their search for a Category Manager. The position is responsible for maximizing gross profit by purchasing, evaluating new products, negotiating pricing, and planning marketing strategies for the Packaged Beverage Category.
$80,000 to $95,000
Determines annual unit and gross profit growth by developing annual market plans and coordinating implementation with the field; analyzes trends and results.
Selects vendors, negotiates costs and terms for products and develops schematics by applying category management principles in accordance with the department’s strategic objectives.
Increases sales revenues by developing promotional concepts and overlay programs; develops category plans.
Establishes and monitors gross margins by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas; projecting expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products and determining placement and promotions.
Defrays cost of equipment, advertising and promotional programs by negotiating allowances and partnering with manufacturers.
Serves market segments and specific product needs by responding to field requests for market or product specific materials.
Projects and measures category sales and gross profit results by developing and maintaining records of item cost, retail and gross margin dollars.
Maintains external vendor relations by providing direction, guidance and information; resolving concerns.
Recommends changes in products, service and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks
College background preferred in business or marketing
Strong analytical and organizational skills within the package beverage category
Convenience store merchandising experience a plus
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to travel up to 30% of the time within the Division.
Works well independently and in team settings
Possess intermediate skillset in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Power Point.
Strong communication skills to read, listen, understand and communicate information and ideas in a clear and understandable manner, both orally and in writing.
