Energy Recruiters has engaged with a leading software provider to support their search for a Vice President of Sales. Our Client’s solutions have enabled successful convenience retail chains and fleets across US to consolidate multiple compliance, fuel analytics, and asset management platforms into a single, robust tool.

As the Vice President of Sales, you will lead a Team of professional sales executives to evangelize the overwhelming benefits and ROI to prospective customers in existing and greenfield markets.   The successful candidate will bring leadership, extensive front-line market experience, industry relationships, and passion for winning to the organization.  As the key Sales Executive and member of the Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the following:

 

Primary Objectives:

Accountable for sales strategy, planning, and execution to achieve the Sales Plan

Serve the Team in critical areas of Organizational Development, Training, and Succession Planning

Support the organization’s marketing strategy

 

Sales Strategy, Planning, & Execution

Assess open opportunities in core and greenfield market segments; prepare and train Sales Team for impactful messaging of value proposition into each market segment

Prepare the sales plan and allocate resources to execute outreach strategy; develop, track, and monitor KPIs for dashboard reporting

Lead from the front in opening doors and presentations with high value targets.

Steward the sales process for critical opportunities; manage & support Sales Team in winning each stage of their sales processes

Partner with stakeholders to align support for customer messaging/value proposition and provide support for internal initiatives that will deliver competitive advantage

Transparent reporting on Team progress to goals, wins, and losses (weekly/monthly/quarterly)

 

Organizational Development, Training, and Succession Planning

Conduct joint sales operations with Team members to evaluate strengths and development opportunities, coach, and support skill development

Evaluate sales processes for effectiveness and efficiency; create solutions to maximize wins at each stage of process

Assess and prepare recommendations for short/long term structure of Sales Team(s)

Assess and prepare recommendations for Sales Team development (e.g., tools and technology; internal and external training/programs)

Develop process to ensure sales techniques, industry knowledge, contract knowledge, and legal knowledge is ingrained/retained within Sales Team.

Develop process for identifying characteristics in existing/potential employees that contribute to successful goal achievement and professional growth

Ensure Sales Team is proactively conducting market analysis, recognizing competitive pressures/advantages, and bringing them to Leadership Team's attention.

 

Marketing strategy, planning, and execution.

Assess current marketing efforts, effectiveness, and ROI relative to 2022-2023 goals

Prepare recommendations for near and long term investments as well as KPIs for dashboard reporting

Routinely assess market opportunities (e.g., product lines, offerings, or strategies) that would be complimentary to existing business and/or disruptive to competitive marketplace

 

Requirements and Skills

Demonstrated record of accomplishments as a leader, performance manager, change manager, mentor, people developer, and ambassador within the transportation fuels industry.

At least 10 years of successful sales experience into key customer channels including convenience retail and fleets

Minimum of 5 years demonstrated success in managing and leading sales execution

Excellent industry reputation, relationships, and credibility

Documented accomplishments in accelerating business growth

Leadership competencies

Expert communication and negotiation skills

Expert financial management skills

Expert organizational skills

Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred

Willing to travel up to 50% and build authentic relationships with prospective and existing customers
