Energy Recruiters has been engaged to support our Client in their search for a Director of EHS. 

Compensation

$170K-$200K Comprehensive Benefits, Profit Sharing

Responsibilities

Oversee policies and procedures to maintain compliance with regulatory agencies. Those agencies involve about 15 federal, state and local agencies responsible for environmental programs, transportation, Occupational Safety, security, chemical imports, Worker’s Compensation and insurance claims. 

Transportation issues involve motor carrier, rail, and hazardous mat. Environmental issues include complex Title V air permitting, complex HSRA and RCRA (hazardous waste) compliance and remediation issues, NPDES permitting, and PCB remediation. 

Industries involve marine terminal operations, fuel distribution, chemical repackaging with distribution, ship repair, and underground storage systems.

Define regulatory requirements and communicate to our Division Managers and the Executive Board.

Manage workload of staff (9) to perform duties and satisfy goals and objectives.

Provide necessary interface with regulatory agencies to understand and comply with requirements, using outside counsel.

Supervise direct staff and outside consultants in developing scopes of work for projects and for contracts and proposals, scheduling, cost control and submission of deliverables.

Manage remedial operations at over 50 sites with contaminated groundwater and/or soil.

Provide direct oversight of Operations in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Oversee security at four ocean terminals regulated by Coast Guard MTSA and four chemical storage facilities regulated by Homeland Security CFATS.

Manage safety, environmental, security and transportation training for the entire workforce.

Manage worker’s compensation cases for all subsidiaries (multi-state).

Travel to operations in four states on a periodic basis and travel nationally to participate in pertinent trade associations.

Maintain a database of regulatory deadlines (~500) that must be met on a one-time or recurring basis.

Requirements

4 Year College Degree in Geology, Engineering or a Science Related Field

Advanced Degree in a related field.

10 years experience with petrochemical industry

PG or PE certification

Be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office products and be capable of learning specialized software.
