Energy Recruiters has been retained by a leading Energy Marketing & Distribution organization to support their search for a Corporate Controller.

Accountabilities

As a Senior Director on the Finance & Accounting Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the following:

 

Primary Objectives

Ensure completeness of routine monthly close, reconciliations and financial analysis

Ensure proper controls are in place and maintained throughout finance, systems and cash applications

Maintain strong relations with internal customers, peers, management, external parties (auditors, bankers)

Strive for continuous personal and team leadership development with an emphasis on core values, integrity and communication.

Support Strategic Objectives

Drive the company’s strategic vision and 5 year plan; prepare and deliver the accounting road map that aligns short term goals with the organization’s strategic plan

Communicate short-term and long-term objectives and actions throughout the organization

Analyze the financial performance of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed

Provide direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources

Steward collaboration with peers on the F&A Leadership Team to ensure that departments are working together efficiently and effectively

 

Team Leadership, Performance Management and Development

Demonstrate the organization’s values by delivering exemplary internal & external customer service

Provide development opportunities to improve the capabilities of your team

Lead personnel lifecycles including recruitment, retention and succession planning efforts

Deliver top-down leadership training

Develop and manage key metrics to support your team

Lead & Manage the Accounting Function

Develop guidelines and procedures for internal control policies, activities such as budget administration, cash management, inventory management, asset management, transaction controls, timely payment, separation of duty and accurate accounting

Lead and manage team performing accounting functions

Identify key metrics to measure and evaluate the financial/accounting processes and provide assistance to other areas of the business.

Monitor the preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, and reports required by regulatory agencies

 

Reporting

Provide transparency on success, failure, performance, and projections throughout the through reporting and presentation

 

Requirements and Skills

Outstanding Candidates for this Leadership role will bring the following attributes and skills:

At least 5 years of recent, successful senior level experience (e.g., Controller, Director of Accounting/Finance, or position with similar experience and responsibility)

At least 8-10 years of successful career progression and accomplishments across (1) operational improvement, (2) management & leadership, (3) accounting, and (4) financial integrity

Demonstrated experience in developing metrics to enhance decision making and profitability

Experience in supporting the development and management of an annual operating budget

Successful performance management experience

Energetic, collaborative, and inspirational leadership style

Successful track record of individual/team development, training, and change management

Organizational skills, commitment and follow through of execution/implementation

Expert written and verbal communication skills

Experience with an ERP and/or large project software implementation

Bachelor’s degree
